Chapter 3 - 1750 Words
I didn’t know of why it was that my brother worried of me so, but it was because of that worry that I nodded to him, and wore the pendant on my necklace. I trusted him to know of those that the ruler was around, for he had been to the place before apparently, and I knew my brother to never do something weird unless there was a good reason behind it. Hiding the necklace within the brown rags, I took what little would be needed, and proceeded outside once more, seeing that my parents had smiles on their faces, and Raziel was waiting patiently for me. “I am ready to go, milord.” “When we get to my dwelling, I expect you to not look at any other than myself for any commands to follow, and to not speak to the nobility until I have deemed you fair enough to speak to them.” “Yes milord.” He turned, and walked onwards away from my place, I only waving goodbye to my family for now, for I would see them after a full day and a half had passed. After coming to be within what seemed like a deserted area, I had seen him stop abruptly, making me stop before I would walk into him. He turned around, and for a moment he looked a little more relaxed. “Zillah, you can call me Raziel, but only when it is you and I that are within that space. You will address me as you have been when we are around the nobility until all are comfortable with your presence.” “Yes milord.” I looked around a moment, and did not see anyone, and when I looked at him, he had an expectant look, so I knew that I had spoken wrongly when I had said that. “My apologizes…Raziel…” It felt strange to call him by his name in such an informal way, but it had caused him to smile before turning and walking onwards. I had assumed that much would be learned, and a great many things would seem like they would not be right to say at all that would be allowed, while things that had been commonplace would not be allowed, and I knew that it would take more than one day and two nights to accomplish it. I hadn’t noticed that he had started walking again until I suddenly heard him speak from a slight distance. “Come, Zillah, for time is of the essence, and I will not have you waste a moment of it.” I did not understand why there was such a need to go quickly, but I only had ran to catch up with him, moving my hood back up and fixing my hair so that it would not be noticeable.
“Take the hood off and let your hair flow freely. I will not have you cowering behind such a piece of cloth.” He only slightly glanced back at me, the glare that he gave me giving me such chills that I had wanted to run forevermore from his very presence. Taking off my hood, and moving my hair out freely, I had heard a couple of startled gasps as I walked when we had gotten to a small town, making me feel a heightened sense of shame for not being like everybody else. I kept my head down in those moments then, because all I could think about was that the current lord was walking around with a commoner that had most likely been from another area of the world not yet known to them. I fought my increasing urge to place the hood once more upon my brow, and would have to fight it throughout the walk from my place to his. The journey had seemed like forever, even more as such when those that were supposed to go had only stopped to stare at seeing a woman with vibrant red hair within the area. It was not long though before Raziel had glared at those that would stare, and watched as they went about their business, almost seeming as if they had forgotten that I was there. Once coming to the lord’s place, I saw that it looked almost as simple as what my place had been. My thoughts were interrupted quickly when I had heard him speak to me, his body turned around so that he was now facing me, his arms crossed in front of him being all that I could see, not daring to look up. “Have you had you head down this entire time?” “Yes, milord. I did not think it wise to have people gain more of a reason to stare at me if they had seen my eyes.” A sigh in annoyance was the returned gesture of him, making me look upwards into his eyes. Disappointment and slight anger were within them, and I felt a sudden need to bow and apologize, but was not given the chance to as he grabbed my hand, and pulled me along within his place. Looking slightly around, I saw that there were many visitors, and a couple had looked my way, but then looked back towards their comrade, or the servant. I was perplexed that they had passed me off as someone normal, and for the first time in my life, I felt like I had indeed gained a place in which I might be comfortable within. As we left the main hallways, the sounds of the others becoming nothing but mere whispers until there was no sound at all from them. He opened what was a door in those ancient times, and I looked inside of it, seeing a lush room, many pillows decorating what appeared to be a place to rest one’s weary head.
Glancing at him, I wished to ask him of what kind of room this was because of all of the pillows and silk lying all over the place, but I dared not to, for fear that my illusions would be destroyed by him saying that it was something similar to a room for many women. “This is my room…no one is allowed within it unless I say so, so you can relax within here.” He moved inside of the room, and I moved with him, not sure to stay out in the hallways. Seeing him remove the cloak that he wore fully, I was able to take a bit of a closer look at him, seeing that his black hair extended to be down at his waist, and his body being something that was very nice to look at. I did not stare for much longer, and waited patiently for him to speak once more to me, of if I would be allowed to sit or not. At his coming close to me, I naturally looked up to him, for he stood taller than I by a head. “I had said to you that you are to relax within this room. Why are you not doing so?” His intense stare made me certain that I had once more upset him, and yet I couldn't say anything to him, remembering well of the looks of my parent's faces. I only nodded, and moved myself to relax, removing the cloak that had the hood on it, and placed it neatly next to me as I sat on one of the pillows. I kept my posture as I always had, sitting straight and always making sure that when I would move, it would only to be to do as necessary. It had been a pose that I had been used to, and so became comfortable in staying in it for long periods of time. Lifting my gaze to him, I saw that he was looking at me, a fire within his eyes that made me naturally cringe, and it only gained a smirk from him, making him look more intimidating to me. He walked over and sat across from me, carefully examining me. “Since this is your first time in being in here, know that there are rules. We will do everything by night, so during the day you are free to sleep within this spot. This reason is why you are staying for two nights and not two days. Understood?” I nodded my head quickly, and said to him, “Yes, mi'lord.” He then moved to me before I could even see him do so, causing me to naturally jump back, almost falling backwards from my position. He caught me easily with one arm, and lifted my chin to force me to look at him. “You disobey me yet again...whatever shall I do to make certain that you do not do so another time, I wonder.” He waited for any form of response from me, and the only thing that I could do was shake my head, to show that I had no idea. Lifting my chin to almost be painfully higher, he let go of me with his other arm, and held me there with just his hand upon my chin. It made me close my eyes from the slight pain, but it would not last long as I felt something against my lips. When I blinked my eyes open, I had seen that it was his own that had touched mine. It was forceful, but somehow soft as well. I wanted to move from the spot, but couldn't without it breaking my jaw, and so I had to suffer in silence. I closed my eyes, and silent tears fell from my face as my first kiss had been taken by this man, sullying my lips to be clean for one that would become my husband. Almost as if he sensed my pain, he lifted from kissing me, and moved his hand from me before sitting back in his spot. Lowering my head, I said to him, “I will never disobey you again, Raziel.” There was an almost immediate venom within my words, but it came out only at his name. He said to me, “Good. Now then, to begin your lesson. When you are a noble, you look down to no one. I will not have you keeping your head down like a commoner. The next thing will be to change your outfit. That is not something a noble would ever find themselves caught dead within. I will have someone get your measurements so that you will have an outfit that will be befitting your new life.”
