Kirianna's Biography - Origins
Late at night, within the lowest part of the ShinRa building, there was work that had to be done. A woman that had pale but vibrant flesh laid upon a table within a lab. Her hair was long, close to her knees, and though her eyes were closed, there was already mako infused within this woman. She was not a woman entirely, but one that was created from the mechanics of a professor's mind...one that was focused on the most recent threat to all of his work, and the great desire to stamp it out so that he could continue on with his research. That was Sephiroth. Once the legendary SOLDIER that would gain admirers throughout the world of Gaea, now reduced to being the most feared man alive. Hojo, now looming over the woman's body, stood there in contemplation in how to make this woman come to life. The professor's eyes flickered in the dim candlelight illuminating his work area. He adjusted his glasses and smirked, while gazing at his most recent specimen. He had once created the greatest experiment of all time, and now he stood in front of the one who had been programmed and created to destroy it. This was by far his most fascinating specimen yet. Hojo leaned close to the woman's lifeless face. "So," his raspy voice whispered in her ear, "What is it that makes you tick?" The husk of the woman did not move, unable to give any response as it had not had the breath of life quite yet. Suddenly a few computers started to make noise, one showing the levels of the woman's body, showing the machines were able to keep the body alive for only another hour, and the other computer showed that Jenova was starting to show signs of change. Hojo turned abruptly to face the computers with a look of surprise and interest. He needed more than an hour to complete his latest masterpiece. Though, he thought with a chuckle, he always liked a challenge. He walked towards the computers, running his fingers over the old monitors. His last experiment had been a failure. He hated to admit it, but he knew it was true. He hadn't had enough experience with the Jenova cells. His own creation had backfired. But he would not let this experiment be a failure. He had tampered with the Jenova cells before infusing them into the woman's body. There would be no downside this time. Jenova wouldn't be able to influence this specimen. He sighed deeply and took one last look at the screen displaying the woman's vitals. He called a nurse for assistance, then threw his lab coat over his shoulders and grabbed a tray full of medical tools and equipment. He grinned, looking down at the beautiful specimen. Yes, this would be quite a lovely challenge. The nurse quickly came, and she saw the vitals that were still stable. She slightly asked Hojo, "Professor, will you need 20CCs in order to help her gain life, or shall we try electricity? Maybe a bioelectric shock will help it." The nurse moved the tray to Hojo, then moved, taking his coat and moving it to be set down in a spot that it would be better for. Upon the woman that was on top of the table there laid some cloth that hid away what was her form, fitted with a simple set of clothing that would allow for movement easily for anything that she would need to do, her hair long and slightly flowing off of the table. Though the cells would not influence her mind, it did influence her hair color as it was plainly seen, but suddenly a very slight twitch was found from her finger. Hojo jerked towards the woman, his eyes drawn to her finger.
"Electricity," he mumbled to the nurse. "But not too much voltage. I don't think much will be necessary." He smirked, staring at the long silvery-blue hair and the fair skin of the woman in front of him. His eyes drifted back to her finger, which he could've sworn he had seen twitch. "What an interesting specimen," he mumbled. "You certainly do have a mind of your own. Just don't go causing any trouble for me, dear." The nurse nodded as she moved then, going to the machine, and moving it forwards. She kept the voltage low, and said slightly, "Clear." She then sent a few volts of electricity into the woman, causing the body to naturally arch. After a moment, movement was seen as the woman's hand twitched slightly. Opening her eyes for the first time, her crimson eyes took in her surroundings, information within her mind that had made her focus on one thing...destroying the one that was known as the legendary SOLDIER. She moved, her body slim and almost seeming frail, but was one that had no boundaries to power. She managed to sit up then, her hair moving with her until she finally looked at the ones that were on both sides of her, but she would only stare at the male instead of the female, not finding a need to stare at the woman at all. This man, by instinct as far as she knew, was the one that had brought her life, and so was a form of a father to her. A wide grin spread across Hojo's face as he stared at the woman in front of him. His specimen was a success. He threw his head back and let out a loud cackle, startling the nurse but not phasing the crimson-eyed woman. After regaining composure, he walked closer to the woman and took her hand in his. "Liliana," his raspy voice mumbled through an evil smirk. "You have no family nor friends. I brought you into this world, and you have no other purpose than to fulfill my biddings and destroy ex-SOLDIER 1st Class, Sephiroth. Do you understand, my daughter?" The nurse only moved away, and started to take on notes of the vitals, and of the success of the creation Liliana. Liliana looked at Hojo, her hand within his, and she spoke for the first time. "My only mission within this life is to hunt down the legendary SOLDIER and use any means necessary to destroy him utterly. I shall not fail in this solitary mission, father.
The nurse came back with the charts, showing that Liliana's power awakened when she had, and revealed that there could almost be no limit to her abilities. "Doctor, I must admit, this has exceeded any expectations by far, I would imagine." Liliana slightly shifted, a wince coming to be revealed on her as suddenly she groaned, and a black wing came forth from her back on the left side. She slightly looked at it, then looked at Hojo. "Is this a gift from you father, or is this part of something more?" "That, and all other aspects of your being, are mere tools for your success," Hojo examined the wing, greedily running his fingers over the soft feathers. This specimen truly was quite remarkable. Hojo's eyes rose to meet Liliana's crimson stare. "This wing, those eyes, that hair... they are yours and yours alone. Do not group yourself with any of my failed experiments." He gestured towards a locked door, behind which were the remains of the great calamity, Jenova after it was brought into ShinRa's headquarters. "You are not a failure like the rest. You are perfection." The wing slightly moved at the touch, and only kept in it's relaxed state, her eyes carefully watching to see about any change in his face, then looked towards the locked door that he had gestured towards. She would not ask, and only said to him, "I am unlike anything that you had ever known within a creation, and I am one that will not fail you at all." She opened her hand, and a scythe appeared. She looked at it, and asked, "How do you use this?" Hojo smirked at the woman. "You already know how to use that. It has been programmed into your being, as with all other data that you may need." He adjusted his glasses and turned towards the computers, whose screens were still flashing with bits of information. His hand grazed one of the keyboards, and he pushed a button, which illuminated a room adjacent to the one they were in; only a sheet of glass separated them from the training room. Hojo continued to type and lazily mumbled, "As with any new skill, it will need to be honed. Practice is necessary." With the push of another button, an image appeared on the screen of the computer. It was of a village, much like the one that they were located in. "Into the training room you go." Hojo said, motioning for Liliana to enter the illuminated, empty room behind the glass. "It's time to see exactly what you're capable of, my dear." Liliana nodded, looking through her information that she knew, and she found out that she had mastery of the long ranged weaponry that ShinRa had knowledge of to that date, only knowing of very basic melee combat, along with knowing every vital point a human had. She moved into the room, seeing the hologram that revealed the town that they were within. She held the scythe in her right hand, and was ready to face anything that might come from being within this illusion. "I am ready...father." Hojo grinned evilly through the glass and nodded at his specimen. Now he would get to see the true power of this woman that he had created. He pushed a button on the keyboard, beginning the simulation.
Warriors, who appeared to be ShinRa troops, began to appear and rush toward Liliana. Hojo smirked at his experiment, who was gripping her scythe tightly, ready for battle. "Make daddy proud." Liliana looked at the ShinRa troops, and she wondered of why she was going to be going through with them. She looked at them as they rushed forwards, and she tossed her scythe up, immediately moving, and hitting each one of the troops hard enough in the chest, stomach, and other vital points that she had within her knowledge, and caught her scythe once more. She looked at them, seeing that they fell as soon as she caught the scythe, and only turned, glancing at Hojo through the glass. Hojo chuckled, his eyes glistening as he observed the sheer strength and agility of Liliana. He pressed a button, releasing more ShinRa troops, and watched as his specimen quickly and cleanly disposed of them. "Yes," he muttered, his eyes following the woman's every move, "She is a success." Once disposing of all of the troops that would be sent to her, she found that there was none that would come after the last set, and so thought that the first part of the experiment was over. She waited on the next part of it, not finding a surprise that there were now very powerful monsters that had come into the same room. She looked at them as she became surrounded, and only slightly bowed towards Hojo. Suddenly the room became dark, and blood splattered a window or two as a fight commenced. Hojo smiled as he watched his experiment destroy her opponents. He pushed a button, turning off the simulation, then stepped into the training room. "Your power meets all of my expectations," his raspy voice echoed through the empty room. "Finally, I've created the perfect monster. That son of mine was a failure. Now, it is your job to destroy him." Hojo's eyes met Liliana's. "It will take much training and discipline to become more powerful than Sephiroth. Are you prepared for what is to come?" Liliana stood there as she would be ready for another fight, and said to Hojo, "I am prepared to take all the training that my body could possibly handle, then exceed that limit. I am ready for all of the necessary training to come about." She stood straight, watching the professor, and awaiting the next range of the battle to commence. Within her mind was the sole purpose of getting herself to the point that she could indeed destroy Sephiroth, but within her mind and body, she had a lurking of honor, something that had been given through the high concentration of mako poisoning that was not known by the professor. The sudden noise of movement shook her from her thoughts, looking to see the nurse moving around, coming closer to her as she was inspected
The nurse read the schematics towards the professor, and what Liliana had a dislike towards was when suddenly she heard from the nurse, "Well, she should have more tests done after that, so that we can see of how low anything might have slipped." Liliana looked at Hojo, and it was apparent on his face that he had a dislike for the nurse as well when she said that. Liliana did the only thing that she could think of doing, and made her scythe appear. Hojo's eyes showed her to not kill the nurse, even if the fate was well deserved, and Liliana only growled, making the scythe disappear before the nurse could turn around, and said to her, "I do not need to take a break at all…so why don't you go and play with a chocobo or something." Other than a slight clearing of Hojo's throat, there came to be a dead silence. Hojo cackled, his voice disturbingly light as he said to the woman, "It is alright to push things a little more. I am sure that the President will enjoy my success. Be a dear and tell him for me." Once the nurse was out of earshot and down the hall, Hojo sighed aggravatedly, his anger as seeable as a rippling tide in the water. "You don't need any rest. We will continue until you are almost dead, then we might stop. There are Phoenix Downs here, and so there is no need to worry if you are killed for a moment." Pressing a few buttons, Hojo pushed Liliana into the training room area, and for the next half a day, she worked on showing off all that she could do, only having to use her wing once in order to reach the weak point of the monster to defeat it. She panted slightly after finishing, and growled slightly because her wing was a hindrance she felt. Hojo said over the intercom, "Wait a moment! Don't rip that wing out just yet. I plan on doing something with it, but I will not know of the full effects unless it is tested on a Sephiroth clone. Come out of there." He turned down the training room, knowing full well of the necessary measurements to take to make the wing become useful. Scrounging about in his files that he had with Professor Gast and Grimoire Valentine, Hojo found what he had wanted to find. Bits of information on those that had developed wings before Angeal, Genesis, and Sephiroth. Watching Liliana come out of the training room, he examined her walk, seeing that she was only exhausted and nothing more. He would work on her endurance later, and only focused on what he would do. For the next few hours, he worked on the wing that was on her left side, making the wing become something that would take energy from the opponent that she was to fight. After the experimentation had been finished, Hojo sent her back in, bringing out a real Sephiroth clone that had been lurking in his labs.
Liliana knew what to do, and so extended the black feathered wing, finding nothing was really happening. She glanced at Hojo only a moment before the clone started to walk towards her. Noticing the shift within the clone's walking every other step or two made her realize that something was happening. She had a sudden burst of energy and it caused her reaction time to heighten. Hojo, upon seeing the schematics of her gaining energy and the clone losing it, he cackled demonically, his experimentation proving it's worth in a new level. His work could be unrivaled by even Professor Gast, but he had a need to still examine all of the capabilities that this woman had. Once he glanced up to Liliana, he saw that she had killed the clone in a brutal way, and cackled again as he moved towards the doors. Liliana exited the doors of the training area once more, and waited patiently on what he would tell her. A fleeting disappointment came about her as she heard him say to her to go and take a shower, but would only force herself calm as she would respond to him with a simple bowing gesture before she then made her way to take a shower. Through what would seem like months of training, Liliana's power had become known, the weakness being revealed because of the all too human form that Hojo had used for her. Hojo had a great delight in seeing his experiment not fail to impress him, but the limitations that he found he wanted to work on. Those weaknesses he would never be able to work on perfecting though. After the final progress report of code name L was given to President ShinRa, he wanted to see the woman. Hojo wanted to hide her for himself, and the night before the meeting was to take place, Hojo gave Liliana a card, as well as a set of keys. "Liliana, you are to go and hide within the building that is within the darkened forests that are near the caves. This key…" He points to a black oblong key. "will be for the motorcycle that you are to use once you leave this facility. You are ordered to carry out your mission should you find Sephiroth, but until then, to lay low, and keep that sanctum well out of anyone's knowledge." Liliana looked at the keys that she had gained, and nodded to him. "I shall, father. The place will be like that of a spirit within the life stream…unknown to all that would not want to look for it, and just as secretive as that of a mime, not being known by any that would look for it." Hojo smirked, cackling a bit, and gave Liliana the entire file of Sephiroth that he had in a hard copy, as well as a disk. Hojo did not say the reason why he had given her his only files of him, but only pushed her on her way, knowing of what to tell the President of what he would, and making sure that Liliana would not be known to the world of ShinRa other than being a lost cause, and to never be placed within record. Liliana, after finding the bike, then went on a long ride, exiting the city limits of Midgar to find the place that Hojo had discussed. Once she had settled in, the time was nearing sunset, and so, she ventured forth by foot from the place, ready to start her journey that would eventually change her entire life.
"Electricity," he mumbled to the nurse. "But not too much voltage. I don't think much will be necessary."
